I was born under the dining room table during a German doodle bug bomb raid on Boxing Day 1944 at a town called Whitton in Twickenham Middlesex.
My father was at this time involed in secret flying opps, as a rear gunner in the RAF. They were Traing for Opperation Harvest 1 & 2 & for other opps which were taking place also towing gliders for the D-Day event. He was in the RAF from about 1940/1 till the end of the war, and made the rank of Warrent Officer as a flight rear gunner.I have looked at his flight record log book which confirms this avent and others for him and his crew. This is now held at RAF Hendon museum with his medals and other items, which I donated after his death in 1998 aged 89.
I did this in his memory, for the fight he gave for Englands future.
As L A C 1454893 Frank Owen Sanders he qualified as rear gunner at Dalcross flying DEFIANT aircraft and fired off 3,875 rounds of amunition.
he was then attached to squadrons 295 - 297 with operational crew of:-
F/O McCutcheon (Canadian )Pilot.
F/O Baylin (English) Wirerless Opperator.
F/Sargent Bowles (Irish) Navigator.
F/Sargent Perkins (Austrailian) Bomb Aimer
F/sargent Sanders (my Dad) Rear Gunner.
They also flew Whitley, Albemarle, Halfax, Skymaster, Ventura, Oxford, and Wellington Aircraft. Quite an assortment of aircraft.

I can as a young lad in 1948/9 rember my mother taking me out shopping with the ration books to get food and cloths for the family.
my recolections of the time immeadiatly after the war are still quite vivid to this day.
