Both my grandma and grandad were evacuated.
Grandma was evacuated to a big house in the country, then to a sweet shop, then to a normal house, and then she came home.
Grandad was evacuated to a farm. He said it was strange at first because you missed your mum and dad.
Grandma was 5 and grandad was 6.
Grandma has a mixture of good and bad memories. One of the places she went to didn't have proper beds and they weren't looked after very well, so they brought her home.
Grandad enjoyed where he went to stay and only came home because he was ill.
The children didn't wear tracksuits and a lot of mothers made the childrens clothes as they were on rations.
