Archie Taylor.Copyright.Sheila.Dawn.2005

In Memory of Crafsman ARCHIBALD TAYLOR

10572138, Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers

Who Died age 25 on 24 June 1944

Son of Archibald and Isabella Taylor, of Greenock.

Remembered with honour

GREENOCK CEMETERY

This is the brother of Ella Taylor who at 95 is still alive today.
It was very sad to lose our dearest Archie
to the War.

Ella still lives in Greenock with her daughter.

The family did not want Archie to go to War but he voluntered to help the cause.
He wanted to do all he could to help the War effort.

Sadly he never returned.

Ella used to go for picnics with Sarah (Cissie) Kennedy. A lot of the children were given buns and things for their picnics from Kennedy and Sons Bakers in Union Street.
Ella's Cousin Isabella Wallace Picken married Duncan Cameron Kennedy.

Message 1 - Regiment

Posted on: 05 April 2005 by Peter - WW2 Site Helper

Dear Sheila

He seems to be wearing the same large badge as your other relative here: A3764973 The fact that one is wearing a Scottish bonnet and the other a service glengarry makes little difference. So, basing my judgement mainly on the other photo, I would say that they were both in the King's Own Scottish Borderers.

For a definitive answer, of course, you would have to consult their service records.

Regards,

Peter
