I was living in Trecasa in Naples on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius. During the Second World War I had many memories in this story it tells you some. At the start of the war I was only a young girl at the age of 6. She was eleven by the time it had finished. I remember that when Italy was at war I was frightened of lived with mother, father, two sisters and her 4 brothers. I remember Mousilini鈥檚 soldiers coming to my village looking for young men to fight for the fascists. Her eldest brothers used too hide when the soldiers came looking as they did not want to take part.
It was a quite a poor part of Italy, during the war there was even less food. I remember one Christmas for Christmas dinner I had a few tomatoes and bread. In the village, some people used too hunt for rabbits to eat but if the people couldn鈥檛 find rabbits they would kill cats skin them and behead them and eat the cats, this was because of the lack of food.
I also remember the American soldiers coming to the village and giving the older girls in the village gifts and food. My uncle was taken by the army to fight in Germany and he wasn鈥檛 happy about this and he escaped back to Italy.
Thank You for listening too my World war memories I hope you enjoyed reading about them.
