This is the place where Derek lived after it was bombed in 1944. His house was the one on the left.
7th July 2005
Derek Wilson lives in Faversham. He is 71 this month. He was bombed on March 14, 1944. He was in bed when his mother woke him up while the air raid sirens went off. He says the explosion was like a train coming towards him. The explosion knocked him out for about 2-3 minutes. All he could see when he woke up was a window frame in front of him. A fireman, Reg Colgate, helped him out of his window. He watched his house from across the road catch on fire. He was young, he began crying because he knew the rest of his family was inside. His sister was buried up to her waist in rubble, and had to be pulled out. His dad was bleeding on his face from small glass splinters.
His mother had a hurt back, and his sister would have trouble later In life. The house next to him had 4 people inside it, an English woman, a Canadian soldier, a wife and one child. They were all killed. Someone located his family down the road, and he went to join them. They went together to the hospital. About 2 months later, they suffered from shock.
Derek Wilson added with his permission. He is aware of what this story is used for.
