It was 6 o'clock in the morning and the air raids had been going all night.Suddenly there was a tremendous noise and all our ceilings fell in.Our house and the houses on either side had been bombed. There was just me and my mother in our house but we were unhurt. I remember the kitchen chair was cut in half and our canary shot up the chimney, and came down black! People in nearby houses had been killed by the blast so we were very lucky.
