HMS Coventry on which John Brereton served as part of the Royal Marine detachment prior to 1942.

John was a Troop Seargenat Major in the Royal Marines. He served on HMS Barham in the Mediterrean and also on HMS Coventry up until 1942. He was torpedoed twice during this period.
