During the war I was at Keysoe School. One day we were told that the King and Queen would be passing by on the way to Thurleigh airfield where a B17 bomber would be named after Princess Margaret. We lined up on the fence area with out little flags all excited. After two hours we returned to our class. The Royal party has used a different route so we were unlucky. My mother and father saw them as they passed by our house. When the troops marched past our school then threw us sweets. I was only six years old.
