I was born in 1935, so I grew up in the 2nd World War as a youngster in short trousers I was allowed to stand outside our house in Weoley Castle, with my father who was on A.R.P. duty because of the blackout it was very dark and I can remember the words my father said to me as if it were yesterday. There was a large red glow in the distant sky. He said 鈥淏limey son Coventry are having a pasting tonight鈥 (Our house was 33 miles away from Coventry). The next day at school we were told all about the bombing of Coventry. I am now 70 years of age, but can remember this as if it was yesterday.
