This Story is submitted by a volunteer on behalf of Radio Bristol Action Desk at City of Bristol College.

Jill was coming back from Birmingham by train where her grandmother lived. Just outside Bristol the train nearly stopped, and luckly for us there was an RAF person in the carriage. Fortunately he realised that the train was under attack from a German plane, and he told my mother to keep me away from the windows because of the machine gun fire. The train was hit but nobody was killed. The train slowed down on purpose to minimise the attack.

Shortly afterwards we arrived at Temple Meads and we were immediated escorted to the air shelter. As soon as we arrived the ' All Clear' was sounded.
