We were all in the bedroom because there was not time to get to the shelters. I lifted up the corner of the blackout, because of the droning noise. I let it go quickly and told my mum and dad that there was an aeroplane (doodlebug). Suddenly the noise stopped and everyone ducked under the beds. It blew the school up at the end of the flats and blew many windows out. I was about four at the time. This was in Elephant Castle in South East London.
