Montgomery ;
When i read this great book , about this famous man i thought of him as a hard task master as protrayed by the book and my father a desert rat , a tough man . Not a man capable of such great effection or emotion which indeed he was . Apparently his wife died from a hand infection from a insect bite in their garden , she died over a period of time something that probably couldnt happen now .
He was working for some of that period i suppose not thinking it life threatening ,but received a call and spent the last hours of her life with her caring for her . There is no doubt he loved her dearly . She later died from thios bites effects the infection and he was of course very upset and found it very hard to deal with . For a few days he was on his own with his thoughts apparently .
At the funeral he attended with his driver and staff officer and broke down at the grave in private . It was feared he may not get over the death of his dear wife . However a day later he called his office and stated life goes on and continued with his work . I thought this a tasteful emotional piece about a very proud man . Some of the facts may be wrong i admit but if anyone can put it right please do so . I found it interesting , about one of ww2,s great leaders .
