I was called up by the government to be trained to work on a milling machine. I was going to be given 5 months when it usually took several years to train. Once we finished the training we took an exam which I passed and then I was sent to a factory in Watford to work on the milling machine. However to our suprise the ones we were given were much more advanced then the ones we had been trained on but I got on fine. I got very boring as a lot of the work was done by the machine.
I stayed in the factory until the end of the war and I went back to the job I'd had in Bedford but I didn't like it as much as I had done before so I left. Also all my old friends from Bedford had left by now. It had been a good experiance.
