At the outbreak of war I said goodbye to my family in London and was put on a train (didn't know where I was going)and ended up at the Village Hall at Kempsford, Gloucestershire.
We were then given our new foster homes, I lived on a farm which could not have been better because of my love of animals and everything to do with the countryside.
The family I was fostered by were called Mr. and Mrs. Couling and their daughter Joyce. I was 8 years old and Joyce was 9.
Before school every morning, I had to feed the chickens, collect the eggs and then go to the farm dairy and get the milk, and then I had to take the dogs for a walk.
I was fortunate because I lived on a farm that we did not suffer food shortages as the rest of the country.
My parents came to visit me every Bank Holiday and summer holiday and also my older brother and sister.
I lived with the Coulings for six happy years and my elder sister is still in touch with Joyce, their daughter and went down there for a holiday in 2004.
