We had two evacuees in the War from Birmingham. Mum had put down for one girl, because there was already me, and we only had two bedrooms. But when they arrived in Tybridge Street and had done the rounds, Miss Stone knocked on the door and told Mum that there were just two evacuees left - brother and sister. So Dad said 'Bring 'em in, they can have my bed'! So Jean slept with me and Ray had a single bed.
