May 24th 1941,
HMS Hood current flag ship of the royal navy and the largest ship in her majesteys royal navy had already been at sea in the great hunt for the infamous Bismarck. On the previous day the Bismarck was spotted and HMS Prince of Whales and HMS Hood were sent to give the Bismack a swift dispatch to the bottom. unfortunatly instead of coming out ahed of the German vessels Bismarck and Prince Eugen. they came out behind meaning they had only half the firepower to bear on their foes. on her fouth salvo, Bismarck struck HMS Hood in the magazine (ammuntion storage area) causing a massive explosion spliting the vessel apart. Within minutes the most magnificent ship in the royal navy was gone. all hands lost apart from three. within the next few days however the Hood was avenged with the destruction of the Bismarck on her run for home. The Prinz Eugen, Bismarcks escort on the short one week voage was later captured and expended as a nuclear weapons testing vessel.
