During a heavy bombing session over Liverpool, with bombs exploding all around, one fell very close to my mother's house and caused the windows to shake violently.
Was my mother frightened? Not a bit of it!
But what she was concerned about was a complicated jigsaw which was set out on the floor and she was attempting to complete.
When the windows shook she rushed into the room to make sure the partially completed puzzle had not been disturbed by enemy fire. No it hadn't!!
This shows how my mother's jigsaw withstood enemy action and how cool she was in herself. This is a great example of true Scouse spirit, everyone got on with their lives and pulled together.
