My Grandad cycled to and from school in Stowmarket during the war. As he was returning home one night he saw the aircraft which jettisoned its cargo of bombs over Stowmarket, hitting the Congregational Church in the town.
'It dropped its bombs because it was being pursued by a Hurricane fighter.' he recalls.
