Eric Mewton left the family Wadebridge garage to drive for Blake's Busses and do a few car repairs for him. Aerodrome construction continued dawn till dusk. One summer night 3 drivers elected to sleep in the boot or rear locker. They over slept.
Catching the Western National Totnes to Plymouth bus at Marley Head, the blonde conductress (a hairdresser in Civvy Street) apologised for the state of the vehicle (all buses were allocated by the ministry). The Southern National had a problem with their TSM Stationed at their Boscastle air post. IIt leaked water so badly; they kept a water can in a stream in Sanding Road and filled up each time it passed on the Wadebridge run. Pat Deacon of Tregatta, the local taxi driver, drove this bus.
