The crew from the Empire Kingsley were rescued by the Sennen Lifeboat. On another occasion we were standing in the hay ricks and we could see a sinking boat, burning. It was being machine gunned by the Germans until the Spitfires came and either shot them down or chased them off. As we watched in the dark I remember feeling very angry but there was nothing we could do. I can remember thinking about the crews and wondering what the lifeboat would be able to do.
