Myself and my sister were taken to Central station in Manchester, by our mother, we had labels pinned to our lapels, gas masks over our shoulders in their boxes and a small case each. The train came into the station and we clambered aboard, having waved our goodbyes. Minutes before the final whistle mother had a change of heart, calling the porter to help her open the carriage door, she took us all from the train again. having decided at the last minute that she would rather have her family around her at this time of war, stating 'if were going to die, then we will all die together'.
