I was a machinist during the war. I remember one job we were making parts for planes or something. Anyway, we had to put little screws into a bit of machine all day. It was so boring! I much preferred it when we were making uniforms or bandoliers as you could see what you had achieved and it felt much more worthwhile.
The war was a difficult time. It was a hard lesson, but well learnt.
