Well I don't remember much, because I was quite young at the time, about five or six. Every night I used to help my mother draw the blackout curtains. I remember I used to hate them because they made the house really dark, I didn't even know what they were for, at the time. Then one night we had just finished drawing all the curtains in the house, when we heard aeroplanes overhead. It was quite early on in the war so the Anderson shelter wasn't quite finished. I remember being so scared, my mum told my sisters and me to hide under the table. After that my dad finished the shelter really quickly so we didn't have to go through that again. Even now whenever I hear an aeroplane I still start to panic inside.
