Tune: "To the shores of Tripoli"
1. Twas the morning of the 6th of June
That we went to Normandy,
With all our gallant Allies
We will bring you victory.
With the paratroops behind the line
And the fighters in the air
With the fusiliers not far behind
And the navy everywhere
2. There will be an ache in every heart
For the girls that we all miss
But we hope that someday soon there will be
No more goodbye kiss
So we'll grimly carry on
'Til victory we have won
And when we all go home once more
Then we'll know our job is done
