The Meadows area of Nottingham was where there was a gun factory and another factory where bombs and shells were made. There were amny air-raids in this area where we lived - many people who lived there worked in these factories and German planes used to dive bomb us a lot. I remember planes swooping low and dive-bombing us a lot. I remember planes swooping low and dive-bombing the streets making people run for their lives. They bombed the houses close to the factories and I remember a bomb rater outside the front door of one house where the occupant was fast asleep and she always reckoned that she didn't hear a thing. She got a shock when she looked outside and saw this big hole in front of her house.
