Peggy鈥檚 Story.

Peggy was eight when war started, when she was 11 she was at an all girl鈥檚 school and was having lessons in people鈥檚 houses, as the school had been taken over by the ARP/Fire Service.
Her father was in the Home Guard, he mother looked after the four children of which Peggy was the eldest.

Peggy鈥檚 family had a brick shelter in the back garden which they slept in at night. They had a dog with some pups, during one air raid a door was blown off and several of the pups escaped, the door to the shelter caved in and the family thought the house was falling down.
During the next day Peggy鈥檚 friend wondered to where the bomb had fallen. They were told not to do this in areas that had not been made safe.

When the war was over she remembers that there was jubilation on the streets.
