Having been called up into the RAF we were sent to skegness to carry out our initial training. On completion of this training at the end of the passing out parade we were told by the inspecting officer that we were being transferred into the army. My number then became 14988542. We found that the naval group billeted in the 'holiday camp' had been transferred also. It has since transpired that we were moved to make up some of the losses incurred in the D Day and subsequent days. As I had an ear damaged in training and the inspecting doctor of the army was an ear, nose, throat specialist in civvy life I was told that I was not fit for army service and would be returned to the RAF and resume my RAF number 3060965. I then had further training and was posted to Chicksand Priory where I was involved in the interception of enemy transmissions for sending on to Station X (Bletchley Park). I have often wondered since that time what happened to the remainder of the flight after transferring to the army.
