During the war years my sister Kathleen who had a very nice singing voice entered a talent competition at the local Palais De Dance, she won first prize. There was a talent scout present and he asked her to go to London. Having a very young son and her husband, Jack, was away in the forces, she was unable to go. She later was told that Jack was a Prisoner of War in Japan where conditions were very bad, then she as also told that he was missing believed dead. Imagine her delight when later on he came home. He had been ill and wore the scars, but eventually made a full recovery — alls well that ends well.
