Clothing Book.

Martin McNulty was born in 1922 he lived in Grangetown and attended St Marys school he had 2 sisters, Veronica and Mina and a brother, Kieth.

In 1940 Martin joined the R.A.F he was 18 years old, the war had already started and had been going on for a year. Then, in 1944 he trained as a PTI (physical training instructor) he then trained as a parachute-jumping instructor. Between 1944 and 1946 Martin served in India and Burma.

Martin had done many jumps including jumping into the sea, without a parachute from approximately 30 feet. He recorded all his jumps in a log book, he told us that the first time he ever jumped he was a little nervous but after every jump he became more and more confident, he also told us that he felt proud to be in his uniform and that it was also very comfy.

Martin was wearing a selection of medals including a defence medal, police good service medal and the far-east veterans medal.

As Martin was 17 he did not really miss home but he wrote to his mother often. He received letters back but not parcels.
