We did not go to the school shelters when the "siren" was sounded as we had had too many false alarms. However the senior boys were sent out on lookout to warn of every aircraft. One day the lads yelled "DUCK" all pupils plunged under their desks. A bomb was dropped which landed on the shelters. No damage was suffered by the occupied classrooms. The only classroom affected by broken windows by the blast were vacant because the teacher had flu and the class was put in with another class. A miraculous escape.
