From Ex LAC Eric Hanson RAF Signals Service Number 910740
I was proud to have had brief encounters with three great men during the War.
Returning to my unit during the Battle of Britain I had occasion to see Winston Churchill in Woolwich, London. He returned my salute with his famous V sign.
I was later posted to the Middle East where at the 1941 Christmas dinner in Cairo we were addressed by our Commander-in-Chief Air Marshall Arthur Tedder later to be Second in Command D Day.
The next year 1942 shortly before the Battle of El Alamein we opened up a Telecommunications Centre and were visited by Marshall of the RAF Lord Trenchard known as Father of the RAF who asked us to gather round him before giving us a
pep talk!
