My Dad, Bernard, was a fireman in London during the war. He was away for the full duration of the war. When he came home, I was the result!
I was the youngest of four. My mother, Inez, looked after my two sisters and brother whilst my Dad was away. They lived in Draycott. My mum was telling me about one night when a bomb fell in nearby Sawley. It really scared my mother, because it made the stairs of the house shake.
