Near to Lincoln a Lancaster bomber took off from Scampton adn crashed just four miles after take off. It was loaded with bombs and the lot went up. At Bransby Rest Home for Horses there is a plaque commemorating this instance.

Another crash I remember clearly is a bomber plane crashing into the gravel pits on Lincoln Road, Saxilby. It was another case of our boys not quite getting back to their airfield.
