End of the war in Europe
Trooper Joe Swinbank 1945
I was in the 15-19 Hussars
This was taken on the last day of the war in Germany.
I was the driver for the CO Col Anthony Taylor and this was the jeep I used.
The picture shows the adjutant Captain P Hodgson (Centre) Sergeant Wild (left) and myself (right).
Behind the jeep was a trailer that was sometimes used to sleep in and was also used for taking prisoners back to HQ. We were sent back to Belgium and on the way my jeep was wrapped round a tree (by another member of the Hussars)
I was taking a captured German General鈥檚 Mercedes Benz back to Belgium at the time.
The 15-19th were moved on to Egypt soon after this.
