Margaret Norman has lived in Farndon all her life. She remembers the war being announced when she was 11 years old. Mr Richards came into the classroom and explained that Britian had announced war on Germany. They were all sent home from school that day.

When the evacuees arrived in Farndon from Liverpool. When the evacuees arrived there was too many school to attend the school so they had to attend on alternate weeks mornings one week and afternoons the next week. She often attended the Ensa Concerts that were arranged as entertainment for the Land Girls.
