This story was told to me by my father when I was young, I think it was after his barracks (in London, Chelsea?)were blown up in front of him and he lost part of his hearing and most of his army friends. Followed by a long spell in Hospital.
I cannot remember if there were dates, but this does not matter for the tale...
In the dark days of the war, awaiting invasion.
My father, was posted (perhaps because of his injuries he was in a civilian unit) to the coast to defend a section of it.
There were six of them against the german might in a lonely concrete pill box overlooking the beach and sea... But only ONE rifle and SIX bullets, of course the conversation was generally of where they would run to if the enemy were sighted, what else, realistically, could they have done?
I am sure the Authorities would never have wanted this sort of story to have leaked out!
