Jose lived in East Croydon and kept diaries all through the war up until she died last year.
During the war she worked as a telephone operator in the War Cabinet Office in London and also as an Ambulance Driver and Nurse. During that time she lived mostly at the War Cabinet Office where she came in contact with Winston Churchill.
Jose鈥檚 husband was a Captain in the Army and also worked in the Cabinet Office, they met when she went for a job interview, he brought her a cup of tea and they started going out together.
They were married during the war years.
Jose loved dancing and went out a lot with friends. As an Ambulance Driver and Nurse she often had to carry patients in and out of hospital.
