My story is that of individual happenings. Sitting in the 'Anderson', hearing bombs dropping. One incendiary fell on 23 Marwood Crescent, home of the Williamsons, setting fire to his trousers. The greenhouses at Merrybent, from the German planes, looked like a lake when the moon shone - "The lake that never was".
Going to Coniscliffe area to look at a huge bomb crater and the attack by machine guns on Northgate Police Station.
