During the war I worked at Rolls Royce in the office and was responsible for taking classified information over to Burlington on the London Road.
My husband Sid was in the services and travelled all over, including to North Africa. Once while he was home on leave he was hit by an incendry bomb which set his baggy naval trousers on fire!
COVENTRY BLITZ
During the blitz me and a man from the navy found ourselves taking local kids to shelter in the BTH (an armary factory). I fell asleep there in a tunnel only to be woken and chased out by the Home Gaurd who told me that there was a time bomb above my head. I complained because I was sleepy!
I also had relations living in Camdon including four little girls, who on the night of the blitz were sheltering in their house. Unfortunatly the house was hit and only the eldest girl got out before dieing shortly after on the pavement.
