During the war from early 1940 my mother, Mrs Edith McMullen and I lived in a top flat at 18 Queen street, Colchester. I remember the night the clothing company (Pipers?)was bombed and burnt down, also the brave bus driver who drove a burning bus out of Eastern Counties garage across the road onto the entrance to the tennis courts so the fire could be put out.
I also remember the V1's going over and one landing in the Castle Park.
My Father was fighting abroad and was killed in a motor cycle accident on July 29th 1945 in Tel Aviv.
