We lived in Corporation Road, Birkenhead and I was only three when the war started, my mum was carrying me and my dad was standing in the back door way saying 鈥淭hey鈥檙e parachuting down.鈥� But it turned out to be landmines coming down. They were coming down in a straight line, they hit Our Ladies church. All the nearby streets, people were killed, they blew the school up.
