I remember standing in the school playground and hearing a doodlebug — and unnamed plane loaded with a bomb go directly overhead. The engine cut out and it went screaming to the Earth about a mile from the school. Luckily I landed in a wood a few trees flew up in the air but thank god no one was hurt. We realised then that was serious, it could have been the school or our little houses.
