Because my dad was in the army, he was sent around the country and we joined him when he was stationed in Bridlington in Yorkshire.
I attended St Johns School there and was highly delighted one morning after an air raid to be informed by a teacher who lived opposite me not to go to school until he said because the Germans had bombed it the night before thinking it was a factory.
Are feeling was 鈥渨ell done the Germans鈥 as we got to miss school for at least two months.
We spent our time by playing football and cricket, but the school sent us homework in the post.
