I was a nurse in a munitions factory in Aston and worked nights. They used to bomb us every night and the bombing was so bad we used to have to come home and risk getting bombed on the way home. As fast as the bombs were dropped, the fire fighters were trying to put them out.
We were, of course, all on rations - 2oz tea, 2oz butter and 1 egg.
