My wife was in the Queen Alexandra Imperial Military Nursing Service Reserve from approx 10th June 1944. She landed in Normandy+10 (that is ten days after (D Day). She was in 101 British General Hospital, where she met me, 2nd Lieutenant Malcolm Morris at the Reinforcement Holding Unit. She was nursing Sister, her matron Sally Wade had almost one hundred nursing sisters under her. Under canvas she nursed friend and foe, regardless of nationality. Some wounded by friendly fire. Her uniform and diary is held at The Imperial War Museum, London.

I asked her to marry me after two weeks, and married eighteen months later, and remained married for 50 years.
We had four children, one boy and three girls, and at the last count had eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Towards the end of the war I was promoted to Captain and became a Military Observer at Hamburg District. Whilst there, I observed the Jews being forcibly returned to camps after attempting to sail to Palestine.

In Civvy street I resumed an artistic career, but my wife continued with her nursing.
