This story has been added by a volunteer on behalf of the contributor and they have been made aware of the 大象传媒 People鈥檚 War website鈥檚 House Rules.

My grandmother Millie Rose-Rivers was 8 months pregnant when war was announced.

The baby at times had to wear a very large gas mask during raids.

Millie was often asked to make sandwiches for her husband鈥檚 colleagues who were all firemen.

The family lived in Chippenham and was asked to look after a family of evacuees.

Millie also used to tell me how lots of American ammunition was dropped off in the roads ready for D Day and how on another occasion she saw Bath city being bombed.
