I remember my dad telling me a story about the police who were called to man the ‘Gun Post’. Revolvers were also kept there. At one of the change-overs, an officer mentioned that the revolver was never used. As he was holding it, the gun went off accidentally, the bullet travelled down the street, ricocheted around the corner and shot a man in the foot, who was sitting on the step!
