"This story was submitted to the People's War site by a volunteer from Gloucester on behalf of Mrs Lewington and has been added to the site with her permission. Mrs Lewington fully understands the site's terms and conditions".
When I was a baby my Mother had 3 children under three. She used to get my Brother and Sister ready for the shelter, then go back in for me, only to go back to the shelter to find them gone. So she left me outside the door, as she could hear them running off outside. We lived in Southampton, between the Docks and the Airport and there was plenty of bombs being dropped.
