EERIE FEELING
All around is silence.
Everyone is quiet.
It's an eerie feeling when it is so quiet.
Soldiers are waiting, not knowing what is coming,
Lying low in their trenches, pointing their guns.
They think about their families,
Mother, father, sisters and brothers,
Wife, kids, friends and lovers.
Warm beds, warm baths warm food on the table,
When can we go home, will we ever be able,
What if I do, and my buddy will not.
Thought it was all fun, thought it was smart,
Joining this war, looked exciting for the young,
But now it's neither smart nor fun.
Whichever side they were on,
Friend or foe, they were all young.
Fighting a war was not a good idea,
All had families, all wanted their lives.
We thought that was the end, but that was a dream.
Governments and Powers are still at it.
When will they stop, when will they get it,
Their fight for power, ends someone's life.
