Having recently read a book about the blitz on Bristol I discovered that only one landmine was dropped in rural noth Somerset, and I believe it landed near North Wootton. My mother, Mary Ella Green returned from a dance in Wells that evening and met my grandmother walking home through the lanes of Somerset. Upon entering their house they discovered my grandfather, Robert Green, cracking walnuts with an old iron, whilst taking shelter under the kitchin table.
